IQAC College Level Reports

Quality Meet-History in the Making

First IQAC Meet for Cycle II

  • The Committee met for the first time after IQAC is re-established for 2013-14 academic year and reviewed the report of the first NAAC team visit held in 2008.
  • It is observed that certain steps have been taken by the government and this institution as suggested by the said NAAC team.
  • The strength of 5000 is reduced to nearly 1700 due to sanction of new government degree colleges in Chintapalli, Araku Valley and Marripalem of Visakhapatnam Agency.
  • This also reduced the pressure on Hostels and the conditions in the hostels have improved considerably.
  • It is also observed that the teacher - student ratio is 1:60 which means more number of teacher posts is to be sanctioned. It may be noted that five contract budget posts for Science Courses have been sanctioned and this is a positive sign of improvement.
  • The teaching methods have been changing gradually from conventional methods to ICT Methods. The poor internet connectivity in the town is a big hurdle in this direction.
  • The library facilities have improved and it is observed that more number of books are to be purchased from UGC / State Govt Funds.
  • The activities of Physical Education seem to be impressive as the students are good at track events, Volley Ball, Kabbadi and Archery. More attention is to be paid in this direction.
  • Research culture is to be improved and staff members are to be encouraged for participation and presentation of Research papers in Seminars and Conferences.
  • The extension activities by two NSS Units are very impressive.
  • Accommodation for classes is to be improved and proposals may be submitted for sanction of additional class rooms. Water facilities may be improved.
  • It is observed that most of the students are getting ST Scholarship besides Hostel maintenance charges.
  • The student progression is moderate in terms of higher studies and employment.
  • Career guidance cell may be improved.
  • The governance of the college is effective and serious grievances are registered neither in the grievance cell nor in the ragging cell.
  • The institution is adopting certain best practices as per the norms of the state government.
  • The IQAC Committee is satisfied with the steps taken so far for improving the conditions in the campus and requests the college teachers to bestow personal attention in taking care of the welfare of the students.
